Mosquito Lagoon Fish Report May 26th, 2010
What an amazing few weeks of fishing here on the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon!!!....Redfish on Fly, Redfish & Black Drum tailing, Redfish & Trout crushing schools of baitfish, Big Fish, Slot Fish, you name it...A sight fishing paradise!

Tommy with the first of two nice Big reds of the day.

Number 2! Nice work!

The recent beautiful weather and the cooperative fish have made for quite a few great trips on the lagoon this month. Redfish have been feeding heavily and several methods have proven effective including flies such as the deceiver patterns and kwans, sight casted live frisky shrimp or select blue crabs will also work. Many fish continue to be caught on DOA and Gulp plastics along deeper edges as the sun rises in the sky. The topwater bite has been good early, throw a saltwater chug bug and hold on for some explosive trout strikes.

Jarod with a nice tailer.

This time of year it always pays follow the bait. If there is no bait, there are usually not many fish around either. Redfish and trout will shadow the mullet strings or pods all throughout the Indian River Lagoon system. Birds can also be a good indicator of bait presence during the warmer months, always keep an watchful eye out.

Double Hook up!

MURRY SHAW WITH A REDFISH ON FLY!

All that being said, I'll let the photos speak for themselves, happy clients included Tommy and Ryan from Arkansas, Eddie, Murry, Jarod, Peter & David from NY, Mike and Omar from Atlanta. All were a pleasure to fish with and I look forward to fishing with them again real soon!

Jarod with another nice one.

David caught this fish on a fishing trip with his dad for his 21st Birthday!

Father and son Redfish.

This will be the final report from the Mosquito Lagoon until October as I'm off for my annual summer employment in the great state of ALASKA! I am looking forward to the float planes, flying in bush planes everyday, Beautiful Wild Rainbow Trout on the flyrod, and of course the wonderful bears and wildlife. I'll continue to take bookings for October thru May, just give me a call or shoot me an email! Have a great summer and I'll see you in October!
